Where did the phrase 4/20 come from?

Happy 4/20! We have been using the phrase 420 for so long, many might not even stop to wonder where it came from. 

In the ‘70s, a group of high school students in California used the term "4:20" as a code for their grand plan to find an abandoned weed crop. They coined themselves “The Waldos”, and met after school at 4:20pm to begin their search using a hand-drawn map from the crop’s grower. Although they searched for weeks after school, they never found the weed crop. The term 420 simply became an everyday code for weed the Waldos used after that. By the ‘90s, it had become an inside joke gone wild 😉
